Why it was built

Traditional restaurant ordering often depends on staff taking orders manually, while menu management, table orders, payments and restaurant operations are handled across separate workflows. Digital Dine was built to bring the customer ordering experience and restaurant-side operations into one platform, allowing diners to order directly from their table while staff manage the entire process from the admin and POS systems.

What went into it

01

Built the customer-facing ordering flow around QR-based digital menus, allowing diners to browse items, select variations and add-ons, and place table orders directly from their phones.

02

Built the restaurant-side system for managing menu items, categories, variations, extras, branches, employees, table orders and POS operations.

03

Implemented backend workflows for orders, transactions, accounts, reports and notifications, connecting customer actions with restaurant-side operations.

04

Integrated multiple payment gateways and supported different payment methods as part of the checkout and transaction flow.

05

Built the platform around multiple restaurant branches with role-based access for administrators, branch managers, POS operators and customers.

Technical decisions

  • 01

Kept the customer ordering flow and restaurant management system within the same application so QR orders could move directly into the restaurant's operational workflow instead of relying on a separate ordering system.

  • 02

Structured the menu around categories, variations and extras so restaurants could handle different item configurations without treating every variation as a separate product.

  • 03

Used role-based permissions to separate access between administrators, branch-level managers, POS operators and other restaurant users, keeping operational responsibilities distinct.

  • 04

Designed the platform around branch-aware restaurant operations so the same system could manage multiple locations rather than building a separate application for each branch.

  • 05

Integrated payment gateways at the application level so different payment methods could be supported within the same checkout and transaction workflow.

  • 06

Kept reporting, transactions, orders and restaurant operations connected to the same backend so operational data could be managed from a central system.

Outcome

The result is a complete restaurant ordering and POS platform connecting the diner-facing QR menu with the restaurant's operational side. Restaurants can manage menus, tables, orders, payments, employees, branches, reports and permissions from one system, while customers can place orders directly from their phones.
